Nick is the lucky winner of a Kindle 3G from the Libraries. His name was randomly selected from among 305 students who participated in a survey administered by Institutional Research and Analysis, on behalf of the Libraries, on how graduate students use various library resources. Asked what he would download first, he replied “Music scores,” adding that his musical interests include piano, voice and French horn. Nick says that one of the things he has enjoyed most at Carnegie Mellon is that he has been able to take a few music courses along with his major work; for instance, he is now taking Introduction to Conducting. Nick also plans to use the Kindle to read journal articles in his discipline. Nick graduated from Carnegie Institute of Technology in 2007 with a BS and an MS, and is currently a doctoral candidate in Materials Science Engineering, CIT. Congratulations and enjoy, Nick!
