Exhibit: Seeing Is Believing; Animalcules, Arteries & Asteroids,1500-2012

The exhibit by Marisa Colabuono (PhD candidate in English) is the latest in a series of exhibits at Posner Center, which are curated by interns funded by the Posner Fine Arts Foundation. Exhibit flyer. Posner Center is open 1-4 pm Monday-Friday.

Seeing Is Believing features images that illustrate scientific bodies: human, celestial, and microscopic bodies. The project questions the relationships between seeing and knowing, wonder and curiosity, and audience experiences over time as they confront incredible images across a range of media. Highlights of the exhibit are Andreas Vesalius’ De Humani Corporis Fabrica, Johannes Hevelius’ Selenographia and Robert Hooke’s Micrographia. — Marisa Colabuono
