Arabic Calligraphy

Saturday, July 6 – lecture  & demo at Carnegie Museum of Natural History. Come learn about Arabic calligraphy, get your name written in Arabic, or try your hand at writing Arabic with CMU librarian Ethan Pullman. Presented in conjunction with a special exhibit at CMNH called “Roads to Arabia” http://www.carnegiemnh.org/exhibitions/roads.html (through November).

Schedule for Saturday, July 6

Noon        Calligraphy demonstration. Opportunity for visitors to try calligraphy and learn basics of writing in Arabic in the Entrance Gallery

1 pm        History of calligraphy and demonstration in Earth Theater

1:30 pm         Calligraphy demonstration. Opportunity for visitors to try calligraphy and learn basics of writing in Arabic in the Entrance Gallery

2 pm         Discuss Arabic language; Arabic words from English and English words from Arabic, and countries where Arabic is spoken in Earth Theater
